Bard Music West Plays
GAMES AND REVOLUTIONS
featuring composers Danny Clay and Gabriella Smith
Here at Bard Music West, we’re always looking for new ways to inspire a deep connection to the music of our time. This spring, we’re bringing you “Games and Revolutions,” the first program of Bard Music West Plays - a brand new series of performances exploring the music and influences of emerging composers. In “Games and Revolutions,” we’ll be showcasing two incredibly creative young composers with Bay Area ties, Danny Clay and Gabriella Smith. Danny and Gabriella are co-curating these concerts with us, offering audiences a rare glimpse into their inspirations and obsessions. With “pay what you can” pricing, concerts will be accessible to all Bay Area residents.
Check out the Games and Revolutions” page for more info.
On October 18-19, 2019, our third festival will celebrate Polish composer and virtuoso violinist/pianist Grażyna Bacewicz (1909-1969). Witold Lutosławski called Bacewicz ‘one of the foremost women composers of all time,’ but we believe that she was truly one of the great composers of the twentieth century. While she is well-known in her native Poland, she is rarely played in the United States. 2019 marks fifty years since her death and so it seems the right time to make a case for her inclusion in the canon of great twentieth-century composers.
Our festival will be the first in the United States dedicated to her music. Don’t miss this extremely rare opportunity to immerse yourself in her world! Check our festival page for more information over the next few months.
