Program One
In Search of American Music
7:30pm, Friday, April 6

Follow Henry Cowell in his search for the American voice, from early American choral works of Billings and Walker to some of the great American luminaries he promoted, including Charles Ives, Aaron Copland, and Ruth Crawford Seeger. Cowell specialist, pianist Sarah Cahill, performs and San Francisco's premiere contemporary a cappella group, Volti, returns after their “transcendent” performance at Bard West’s inaugural festival.

“Apart from being an exceptional pianist and muse to scores of inventive composers, Sarah Cahill is a first-rate communicator who specializes in connecting the music she plays to broader streams of everyday life.
—Time Out New York

"Volti's performance was so balanced and pure...luckily, the chorus returned at the evening's close for a hypnotic performance  - a transcendent end to the festival."
—San Francisco Classical Voice, Bard Music West 2017
