Michael Mohammed, actor
Actor Michael Mohammed recently appeared in The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny as Fatty with the Redwood Symphony and in the dance lm Separate Sentences. His countertenor roles include the title character in Handel’s Orlando with Black Box Baroque and Bertarido in Rodelinda with Handel Opera Project. Theater credits include Jake in Porgy and Bess with Mendocino Music Festival and Mitch in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee with Los Altos Stage. He is a frequent col- laborator with the award-winning performance company Mugwumpin.
Highlights of Mohammed’s directing and choreography work include The Unsung Diva with New York Fringe Festival, The Full Monty with American Conservatory Theater, and Pippi Longstocking with the Bay Area Children’s Theatre. He is director of the Musical Theatre Ensemble at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and an artist in residence with theater at the Ruth Asawa San Francisco School of the Arts. He is a member of the summer doctoral cohort in music at Teacher’s College, Columbia University.
